‘Oh hello, you are already here. You are very welcome.
You are my guest and I am happy for this, but I must ask… Are you a spy?’
Let you host Khadijeh take you on a journey to a mystical place where truths, half-truths and un-truths circulate. Leaping between playful myths and dark realities The Chronicles of Irania is an extraordinary one-woman show that bears witness to the painful but exhilarating struggle to understand and to be understood.
Performed on a Persian rug this is a fast paced, comical and moving piece of theatrical storytelling told with old audio cassettes, home-made props and finger puppets. The Chronicles of Irania takes you on a surprising journey through stories of great kings, lowly wazirs and ancient creation myths, violently interrupted by voices of contemporary Iranian women speaking of acid burnt faces, police brutality and the hanging of young
gay men.
