Standing Strong
This installation reflected on connections between the present moment and the experiences that got us here.
In early 2013, The Women’s Creative Company spent several weekly sessions exploring how their own experiences and observations could be used as a stimulus to create public artwork – ranging from live performance to text and photography.
Inspired by the works of seminal female artists including Tracey Emin, Carol Ann Duffy and Gillian Wearing, the installation invited the audience into the autobiographical artwork, and to consider the place art has had and continues to have, in the struggle for women’s equality, both locally and globally.
The installation was presented in the Clubroom at The CCA in March 2013.
